Program Information

The Foundation will provide an environment that fosters the development of individual leadership, community strength and inter-community unity to promote issues critical to Asian Pacific Islanders.

The primary method of achieving this purpose is through a six-month training program in the following areas:

Leadership Development:
Curricula will focus on developing Asian Pacific Islander community members to become more effective leaders within all aspects of our community. Leadership skills assessments and proven leadership development techniques will be used to refine skills of the novice to seasoned veteran.

Political Empowerment & Community Organizing:
The program will focus on the skills that are essential for successful grassroots efforts. Networking, coalition building, volunteer coordination and mobilization are among the critical elements covered during this training.

Participants meet bi-monthly in workshops focusing on leadership development, personal empowerment, community organizing, and coalition building. Leaders in the API community are matched with participants to provide much-needed mentorship. The program culminates with an opportunity for participants to gain experience in the public arena by completing a project that provides assistance to a grass roots level community organization.
